A Miracle in Disguise

She brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger.  —Luke 2:7

No one was waiting for a Savior in diapers.

No one was looking at a teenage girl to spill their deliverer out onto straw and hay.

They missed the miracle.

It is outrageous for the Christ whose rightful place is at the right hand of the Father to step out of timelessness into say . . . Tuesday evening, to exchange the worship of angels for the garb or a carpenter who wore perhaps . . . size eleven sandals.

No wonder they missed the miracle. It was so close to them they almost tripped over it.
