“Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty” —2 Corinthians 3:17

If you’ve been following my blogs throughout this past year, you know that I was asked to write on a theme of gaining an education or an exploration in finding wisdom. Much of what was covered in these blogs was a sampling of where and how we can find this wisdom. As a summary, I tried to cover how wisdom can be found through our friendships and relationships that focus on the Fruit of the Spirit, through the scripture, through perseverance and discipline, and ultimately through the intercessor, the Holy Spirit.

It’s such a blessing to work at Liberty University where you see these ideas all flow together in Christian community in search for wisdom through absolute truth. You are able to witness how believers grow together to be a light to the world. When you walk into the main academic building on the campus of Liberty University, there is a verse in the lobby that frames the foundation of why Liberty University was founded and where we acquired our name and it is 2 Corinthians 3:17 – “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty.”

I encourage each of you to take some time to read 2 Corinthians 3.  Here we learn that you can’t find this wisdom in words and ink, but on tablets of human hearts through the Spirit of a living God.  So in communion with one another I pray we all grow together in this Wisdom, where we will find liberty.

Thank you for your timely WORD OF LIBERTY!! i immediately related as I have recently liberated myself from a alcoholic husband. The only thing is that I need Godly WISDOM now more than ever to follow God’s prompting as I pray for HEALING for both of us. His addiction to alcohol and my addiction to be in CONTROL.
I own my disfunction, but I am not proud of it. It was merely my way of staying in a 41yr marriage to raise 3 grown children and try to save my dignity/pride of being married longer than any other couple we know.
So let the HUMBLING begin!! As I seek private counseling, Celebrate Recovery meetings and close Godly friends to listen, I am torn with so many emotions from ANGER to DEPRESSION.
My older children are not happy with my actions, they pity their poor dad who is alone.
But I no longer find myself being a people pleaser—LIBERTY again! I hear God giving me permission to put my needs first.
THANK YOU AGAIN FOR YOUR TIMELY WORDS. KEEP THEM COMING PLEASE

Dr Ackerman , it is good to read your words of Wisdom. Dr Chick put together a presentation on Wisdom also and it appears God might be calling us to draw more and
More from HIS word. Thank you.

  3. Sometimes I neglect the importance of the community of believers in my pursuit of Wisdom. This is a beautiful reminder we belong to a Living God, whose Living Word he has inscribed on our hearts.
