Judges ends with one of the saddest of all verses, “In those days…everyone did what was right in his own eyes.” Out of that desperation, we’re introduced to Ruth, a woman whose life could not be further from that description. She’s one of the most heroic women who ever lived, and her story is one of the greatest love stories of all time. When she experienced the most tragic loss of a lifetime, she honored God, followed through on her commitments, and did the right thing. Ruth’s story begins with heartache and ends triumphantly in God’s faithfulness to her. She has a special place in history not only because of her story, but because she’s in the genealogy of our Savior. This is just one of the introductions to books of the Bible from the Women of Faith Devotional Bible. Last week we met Deborah, the judge. This week it’s Ruth. Which Bible heroine will be our focus next week? Stay tuned to find out . . . or order a Women of Faith Devotional Bible and read ahead—we won’t mind.
