About the Book

Lucia is overweight and insecure. It doesn't help that her "perfect" sister Sonia is a beautiful, confident, successful "celebrity Christian" with a TV ministry. All her life, Lucia has coped by throwing herself into taking care of those who seem more worthy. Her own dreams have been buried under potato chips and candy bars.

But God has a way of bringing buried things back to life. When a shocking tragedy puts Sonia in the hospital and Lucia more-or-less in charge, she gains new perspective with help from an offbeat psychologist.

It's good to see our old friend Sullivan Crisp again. Ever the counselor with a heart for others, he's also working through some serious issues of his own. He's made progress since we saw him last in Healing Stones, but like most of us, still has a ways to go. After all, as he says himself, "Until you're dead, you're not done."

With Sullivan's counsel and help from other unlikely sources―including as an FBI agent's dog and an adorable 4-year-old named James-Lawson―Lucia and her family might just make it…if the family secrets don't destroy them all first.
