Jesus said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” Luke 12:15 (NIV)

Jesus spoke more about money, wealth, the problems associated with money (usually from having so much that you forget the source of the wealth), how to give it (cheerfully) and save it (like the ants), and how to make more in your endeavors (by investing rather than hoarding) than he did about the existence of heaven or hell.

I think this is incredibly interesting of Jesus to camp on the subject matter that reveals our true feelings about God’s provision, his sovereignty, the abilities he’s gifted us with by which we make a living, the virtue of generosity, and what makes life worth living. So what does money represent for you? Security? Stability? The ability to provide for your family? Power? A hedge against hard times?

Mandisa

"The only thing I want to be a captive of is the love of Jesus. I no longer want to be a slave to sin, my emotions, or my past," Mandisa says. "God was at work teaching me this throughout the recording of this album. He started me on a journey of freedom that will continue for many years. If you have ever felt chained by addictions, failures, or circumstances, it is my prayer that as you listen to this album, you will experience the freedom that is available to us as followers of Christ."

Healing Waters2nd in the Sullivan Crisp series from Steve Arterburnand Nancy Rue! When Lucia looks at her reflection, she sees fat and failure. When she looks at her sister Sonia, she sees svelte and success. When she looks at God, she sees that divine love can’t possibly be doled out equally. All her life, Lucia has coped by throwing herself into taking care of those who seem more worthy of God’s goods, and feeding the dreams she has buried alive. But when tragedy strikes Lucia’s family, she meets Sullivan Crisp--a decidedly offbeat psychologist who is trying to cope with his own shattered past. They form an alliance to try to hold her family together and, in the process, both tentatively dip their toes into the waters of healing.
