Part of the Family

You should behave . . . like God’s very own children, adopted into his family—calling him “Father, dear Father.” Romans 8:15 (NLT)

Do you realize what those words mean? You, dear one, were up for adoption, and God the Father chose you to be in his family. God the Father chose you to be his child. What a sweet truth to realize that you are a chosen, deeply valued treasure to the God of the universe. He wants to adopt you! Breakfast is the perfect time to show our love. We can brighten a face or calm a fear with some simple food and a few kind words at the start of the day. Trust me, I have seen it work. I believe in the power of a nice cooked meal first thing in the morning.

Try it! Prepare a simple breakfast, sit down with your loved ones, and share. Talk to each other, pass the plates, give hugs, give kisses, and prepare yourself for the day ahead. Everyone knows how fast the world moves once we walk out that door. Enjoying breakfast - really enjoying the food and the company- can do wonders for everyone’s peace of mind.

We write to each other at least one a week. These four are a mother and daughter, and a mother and son. Rosanna and Sarah, and Karen and Eric.

Sarah’s disability has her confined to a wheelchair, and Eric has Down syndrome. I have learned a lot from both families.
