Love Radically

Oct 17, 2019

FOCUS: Words to Prepare Your Mind

“God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

“When we know that we are loved by God, loved beyond measure, we can dive in and take a chance.” – Sheila Walsh, Imagine Devotional Journal

PUSH: Words to Influence Your Spirit
Would you consider your love for Jesus to be ‘radical love’?

Whether you feel that your love for Jesus is radical or not, know this: Jesus is radically in love with you.

Let me tell you what radical love means. It is having an all-consuming, passionate love for God—the kind of love God has for you. Do you want this radical kind of love in your life? If you do, let me tell you how to get it.

First and foremost, if you don’t have it, you have to confess that fact. Secondly, cry out to God for it in your life. And lastly, don’t give up until you get it!

HABAKKUK: A Promise We Can Claim

Oct 16, 2019

habakkukIf we could hear God’s voice audibly, if He were to say something personally to us, it would be wonderful to hear Him say what Habakkuk heard: “Look among the nations and watch – be utterly astounded! For I will work a work in your days which you would not believe, though it were told you” (Habakkuk 1:5).

All our lives we’ve been in trouble – nations rising against nations; wars and rumors of wars; people speaking of peace where there is no peace. That also describes the days of Habakkuk. God made a promise to him that we can claim as our own . . . just like we’d heard it audibly. It’s that real.

OBADIAH: Short And Powerful

Oct 11, 2019

OBADIAH: Short And Powerful

The somewhat obscure book, written by its somewhat obscure author, is the shortest book in the Old Testament.  In only one chapter Obadiah admonishes us to not hold a grudge.  Picking up on another passage of Scripture, “Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them…” (Matt. 7:12).  Obadiah warns us to be careful.  In verse 15, he writes, “As you have done, it shall be done to you.”

As tempting as it is at times to get even when we’ve been hurt or mistreated, it never pays.  Obadiah only had one chapter to do it in, but he makes that very clear.

Holy Spirit in Real Time

Holy Spirit in Real Time

I remember the conversation like it was yesterday. I received a phone call
from a woman from my church who was in extreme crisis. As she shared her
story with me, I could hear the depth of her pain. She relayed in detail the
suicidal thoughts she was having as a result of the years of sexual abuse she
had suffered as a child, and her despair was deep and real and frightening.
My heart broke as I listened to her, but I immediately felt overwhelmed and
This conversation occurred over 20 years ago, but I vividly remember the
initial panic that overcame me. How could I possibly help her? Why was she
calling me? Why wasn’t she going to our pastor or a trained counselor? What
could I say to keep her from harming herself?
I remember immediately saying a prayer in my head and asking the Holy
Spirit to guide my words. I had not experienced the things she was going
through, but I knew clearly that God wanted me to be there for her in this

Grace and the Holy Spirit

Grace and the Holy Spirit

“The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell
where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the
Spirit.” John 3:8
My dad loved the saying that we are a spirit born in the image of Christ sent
here to live out a human existence before we head back home to Him. We
are first and foremost a Spirit born in the image of Christ. Our purpose here
is to live out the plan that God has for us.
The question is, how do we know what the plan is for us?
The focus in October with the Women of Faith Ambassadors is Holy Spirit...
the power within us. I struggled much of my life understanding the role of the
Holy Spirit. Through prayer and study, I have realized I made it much harder
than it needed to be.
Jesus describes the Holy Spirit to us in John 16:12-15:  “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.  When the Spirit of truth...

Life Leadership

Aug 22, 2019
Now then, we are Ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us;                                                      we implore you on Christ’s behalf,  be reconciled to God.
2 Corinthians 5:20

Life Leadership is the second strand with our Women of Faith Ambassadors.

LIFE LEADERSHIP: As a woman of faith, a Life Leader leads herself well in all aspects of life, and she is also a good role model to help others do the same in her home, work and community. A Life Leader leads themself well.

Every day we are developing real life leadership skills, so that you stand out in your community as the light of Christ for others. We continually develop them in several ways.

First of all, our Facebook community, is a great place to start.  Women in our group are...

Stumbling Through Life

Stumbling Through Life

I stumble my way through life. Recently at a conference, I tripped down the stairs.  At the bottom of the stairs stood the board of this organization, where they all turned to me. One of them said, “Beth. Beth can be our next President Elect.”  This is my life.  I struggled in school, but obtained my doctorate degree.  My selfishness impacts my marriage, but I have a wonderful marriage. I could give countless examples. And while my struggles are frustrating, they are helpful in my battle with pride and serve as constant reminders that I am with God and His grace.

Pride is at the core of what hurts our relationships and divides the body of Christ.  We’ve witnessed its many forms—obsession with notoriety and praise (titles, being right, possessions, numbers, sales, rankings, gifts, etc.). We see pride even in our care for the “least of these” or humble circumstances (serving the poor and inflicted,...

With Every Beat of Our Hearts

Aug 16, 2019

The most answered prayer has often been called the prayer of the heart. As the Eastern Orthodox church sought to turn the prayer into a way of life, they discovered it is possible to know it by heart—literally. They say it’s possible to pray “Lord, have mercy” with every heartbeat.

Try it.

Tonight, when you lay your head down on your pillow, as the sounds of the day begin to fade and your body begins to settle, you’ll reach a point of quietness in which you can actually hear and feel your heart beating. You can begin to pray the mercy prayer in rhythm with your heart.

Lord, Jesus, Son of God, have mercy on me.

Lord, Jesus, Son of God, have mercy on me.

Lord, Jesus, Son of God, have mercy on me.

If you do this, you will find that you will continue praying in your sleep. Throughout the night, your subconscious will still seek God. And when you stir,Kyrie eleisonwill be your first waking thought.

With practice, we can build the mercy prayer into our...
