For King & Country | Alita Reynolds + Luke Smallbone

In this episode, I had the pleasure of speaking with Luke Smallbone from For King & Country. We discussed their unique experience of performing on election day at a casino in Hollywood, Florida, and how they are bringing their beloved Christmas concert to the big screen. Luke shared the inspiration behind recording the concert in a cinematic way, allowing fans from all over the world to experience it, especially those who might not have the opportunity to attend a live show.

We discussed the significance of their hit song "Drummer Boy" and its enduring popularity since its release in 2012. Luke emphasized the importance of remembering the true meaning of Christmas and how their concert aims to infuse hope and purpose into people's lives.

Luke also touched on the challenges and rewards of filming the concert, which was decided just two weeks before the actual recording. Despite the tight timeline, the project came together beautifully, showcasing the dedication and hard work of everyone involved.

We also talked about their film "Unsung Hero," which celebrates the extraordinary yet simple life of their mother, Helen Smallbone. Luke highlighted the importance of doing the next right thing and how his mother's unwavering support and wisdom have been a cornerstone in their lives.

As we wrapped up, Luke shared their plans for the upcoming year, which include taking some time off from touring to focus on creating new music and potentially another movie. He encouraged listeners to make core memories with their families by attending the Christmas concert in theaters, which runs from December 5th through the 9th.
