How to Find a Godly Mentor (and become one!) | Life Leadership Part 3 | Alita Reynolds | Women of Faith
Whether you are looking for a mentor to guide your steps or feeling the nudge to pour into someone else, this episode is for you. We are diving into the life of Elisha to uncover how preparation, humility, and a double portion of boldness can transform you into the leader God has called you to be.
I am so glad you are here for part three of our series on Life Leadership. We are talking about something so close to my heart: mentorship. We often disqualify ourselves because of our past or because we didn't grow up in a "ministry family," but I want to remind you that you can be the vanguard. You can be the first generation to set a new tone for your family and your community. By looking at how Jesus invested in the twelve and how Elijah prepared Elisha, we can see a clear roadmap for our own growth.
Key Takeaways from Elisha’s Preparation
- Accept Your Anointing: Just as Elisha was called to succeed Elijah, you must understand and own the specific role God has for you without shrinking back.
- Cultivate a Servant’s Heart: Elisha was found plowing a field. True leadership starts with a willingness to get low and serve, even in the "unseen" tasks.
- Wait on God’s Timing: There is often a long gap between the moment the "mantle" is thrown on you and the moment you step into authority. Use your waiting season to be transformed.
- Heal Past Wounds: Elisha asked to kiss his parents goodbye, reminding us that leaders must respect authority and find healing from past family triggers to lead healthily.
- Burn the Bridges: When Elisha burned his farming tools, he committed fully to his new calling. Surrender your former ambitions to embrace the new thing God is doing.
- Pursue Good Mentors: Don’t be afraid to be bold. Seek out wise, godly people, get under their leadership, and learn everything you can from their lives.
- Hunger for Growth: Be a student of the Word and a student of those you admire. Listen to the lessons, do your research, and ensure everything aligns with Truth.
- The Power of Two-Way Pouring: Mentorship is a circle. As you pour into others, you will find that you are also refreshed and inspired by their transformation.
Are you ready to stop making excuses and start growing? If you feel the Lord stirring your heart to be mentored personally, I would love to walk alongside you. Check out the link below to learn more about my mentorship program. Let’s stop waiting and start leading!
I’m wildly cheering you!Â
