SATAN, DEMONS & SATANISM

Who Is Satan?

Satan, also known as the devil, is a fallen angel who rebelled against God and became the enemy of God and His people. The Bible describes Satan as a deceiver, accuser, and adversary who seeks to separate humanity from God and lead people into sin and destruction.

Satan’s Origin: A Fallen Angel

Satan was originally created as a beautiful and powerful angel, but he became prideful and sought to exalt himself above God. As a result, he was cast out of heaven.

  • Isaiah 14:12-15"How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! You said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God... But you are brought down to the realm of the dead, to the depths of the pit.’"

  • Ezekiel 28:12-17 – This passage describes the fall of the king of Tyre, but many believe it also reflects Satan’s fall. It speaks of a being who was "blameless... till wickedness was found in you."

Satan’s pride and rebellion led to his downfall, and he was expelled from heaven along with other fallen angels (demons) who followed him.

Satan’s Role as the Enemy of God

After his fall, Satan became the adversary of God’s plan and seeks to deceive, tempt, and destroy humanity.

  • 1 Peter 5:8"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour."

  • John 10:10"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

Satan works through lies, deception, and temptation to draw people away from God.

Satan’s Deception in the Garden of Eden

Satan first appears in Scripture in Genesis 3, where he takes the form of a serpent to deceive Adam and Eve into disobeying God.

  • Genesis 3:1-5 – Satan questions God’s word and tempts Eve by making sin look desirable: "Did God really say…?"

  • 2 Corinthians 11:3"But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ."

Since the fall of humanity, Satan has continued to use doubt, deception, and temptation to turn people away from God.

Satan as the Accuser and Deceiver

Satan is known as the "father of lies" (John 8:44) and the accuser of believers.

  • Revelation 12:10"For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down."

  • 2 Corinthians 4:4"The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ."

Satan actively lies, deceives, and blinds people to the truth of the gospel.

Satan’s Defeat Through Jesus Christ

Although Satan is powerful, he is not equal to God. His defeat was sealed through Jesus Christ’s victory on the cross.

  • 1 John 3:8"The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work."

  • Colossians 2:15"And having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross."

Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, Satan’s power over believers is broken.

Satan’s Final Judgment

Satan’s rule is temporary. The Bible declares that he will ultimately be defeated and cast into the lake of fire for eternity.

  • Revelation 20:10"And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night forever and ever."

Though Satan continues to wage spiritual warfare, his fate is already sealed.

How to Resist Satan’s Attacks

Believers have the power to resist Satan through faith in Christ and the Word of God.

  • James 4:7"Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

  • Ephesians 6:11"Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes."

  • 1 John 4:4"The one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world."

By relying on prayer, Scripture, and the power of the Holy Spirit, Christians can overcome Satan’s schemes.

Satan Is Defeated, God Is Victorious

Satan is a real spiritual enemy, but he is already defeated through Jesus Christ. His power is limited, and he cannot separate believers from the love of God (Romans 8:38-39). By trusting in God, standing on His Word, and resisting the devil, we can walk in freedom and victory over the enemy.

God's Heart on Satanism

🔴 What Is Satanism?
Satanism is any belief system that honors, follows, or symbolizes Satan. Some worship Satan as a god, while others use his name to promote self-indulgence and rebellion.

📖 Bible Verses Warning Against Satanism:

  • Leviticus 19:31"Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God."

  • Deuteronomy 18:10-12"Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord."

  • Ephesians 5:11"Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them."

What Is Satanism?

Satanism is a broad term that refers to various beliefs and practices that either revere, worship, or symbolize Satan or embrace values opposed to Christianity. However, not all forms of Satanism involve literal worship of Satan.

There are two main types of Satanism:

  1. Theistic Satanism – Worship of Satan as a deity or supernatural being.

  2. Atheistic Satanism – A philosophy that rejects belief in Satan as a real being but uses him as a symbol of self-indulgence and rebellion.

Theistic Satanism (Worship of Satan as a Deity)

Theistic Satanists believe in Satan as a real, supernatural entity and may perform rituals, prayers, or sacrifices to seek power, knowledge, or personal gain.

🔴 Beliefs of Theistic Satanists:

  • Worship Satan as a deity, often in opposition to God.

  • Seek occult power through magic, rituals, and demonic invocations.

  • Some may practice blood sacrifices (though this is rare).

  • Reject Christianity and see Satan as a liberator from God's authority.

📖 Bible Warning:

  • "For Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." (2 Corinthians 11:14)

  • "Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God." (Leviticus 19:31)

Theistic Satanism is dangerous and spiritually destructive, as it opens doors to demonic forces that can harm individuals.

Atheistic Satanism (Satan as a Symbol, Not a Deity)

Atheistic Satanists do not believe in Satan as a real being but use him as a symbol of personal freedom, self-indulgence, and rebellion against religious authority. The most well-known group in this category is The Church of Satan, founded by Anton LaVey in 1966.

🔴 Beliefs of Atheistic Satanists:

  • Reject belief in God, Satan, Heaven, or Hell.

  • Promote self-worship, personal power, and indulgence.

  • Follow The Satanic Bible, which teaches that humans should follow their desires instead of religious rules.

  • View Satan as a symbol of pride, rebellion, and free will, not a real entity.

📖 Bible Warning:

  • "There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end, it leads to death." (Proverbs 14:12)

  • "For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight." (1 Corinthians 3:19)

Atheistic Satanism encourages selfishness, moral relativism, and rebellion against God, leading people away from truth and righteousness.

Satanism in Culture and Society

Satanic symbols and ideas have infiltrated pop culture, appearing in music, movies, fashion, and entertainment. Many people unknowingly engage in Satanic themes without realizing the spiritual consequences.

🔴 Examples of Satanic Influence in Culture:

  • Music & Media – Lyrics, movies, and shows glorifying Satan, rebellion, and evil.

  • Occult Practices – Witchcraft, tarot cards, Ouija boards, and black magic.

  • Satanic Symbols – The pentagram, goat’s head (Baphomet), and inverted crosses.

📖 Bible Warning:

  • "Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them." (Ephesians 5:11)

  • "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." (Romans 12:2)

Even indirect involvement with Satanic themes can open spiritual doors to darkness and oppression.

How to Protect Yourself from Satanic Influence

If you want to avoid Satanic deception, follow these biblical steps for protection:

Surrender to Jesus – Only through Christ can you overcome darkness. (Colossians 1:13)
Reject Satanic Symbols & Entertainment – Remove any objects, music, or movies that glorify evil. (Deuteronomy 7:26)
Pray for Protection – Ask God to guard your mind and heart from deception. (2 Thessalonians 3:3)
Use God’s Word Against Satan – Speak Scripture against temptation. (Ephesians 6:17)
Stay Connected to a Church – Surround yourself with strong believers. (Hebrews 10:25)

If you or someone you know has been involved in Satanism, Jesus Christ offers forgiveness, freedom, and deliverance.

📖 Promise from God:
"If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." (John 8:36)

Signs of Satanic Involvement

Satan and his forces work subtly and deceptively to influence individuals, families, and even societies. The Bible warns about his schemes and tactics, but as believers in Christ, we have power over the enemy. Here are some key signs of Satanic involvement and how to combat them through faith in God.

Rejection of God and His Word

One of Satan’s primary tactics is to turn people away from God’s truth and cause doubt, disbelief, or rebellion.

  • 2 Corinthians 4:4"The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ."

  • John 8:44"You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him."

When someone outright rejects God, distorts Scripture, or mocks biblical truth, it can be a sign of spiritual deception.

Increased Interest in the Occult or Witchcraft

Satan seeks to lure people into occult practices, such as astrology, divination, tarot cards, seances, and other forms of sorcery.

  • Deuteronomy 18:10-12"Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells... Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord."

  • Leviticus 19:31"Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God."

Warning signs:

  • Obsession with horoscopes, spells, or New Age teachings

  • Communicating with the dead (necromancy)

  • Visiting psychics or practicing witchcraft

Even if done for “fun” or out of curiosity, these activities open spiritual doors to demonic influence.

Persistent and Oppressive Fear, Anxiety, or Depression

While mental health struggles can have natural causes, Satan also uses fear and discouragement to oppress believers.

  • 2 Timothy 1:7"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind."

  • John 10:10"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

Signs of satanic oppression:

  • Feeling trapped in constant fear, panic, or paranoia

  • Suicidal thoughts or feelings of hopelessness

  • Hearing negative voices or lies telling you you’re worthless

Satan attacks the mind, but God’s truth brings freedom! If you or someone you know is struggling, seek prayer, godly counsel, and medical support when needed.

Uncontrollable Rage, Violence, or Destructive Behavior

Satan fosters anger, bitterness, and division to destroy relationships.

  • Ephesians 4:26-27"In your anger do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold."

  • John 8:44"He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him."

Warning signs:

  • Outbursts of rage or violent behavior

  • Thoughts of self-harm or harming others

  • Extreme hatred toward others without reason

God calls us to love, forgiveness, and self-control. If you or someone you know is struggling, seek help and cover yourself in prayer.

Obsession with Death, Darkness, or Evil

Satan influences people to be drawn toward darkness, death, horror, and destruction.

  • Proverbs 8:36"All who hate me love death."

  • Isaiah 5:20"Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness."

Warning signs:

  • Fascination with demonic symbols or horror themes

  • Listening to music that promotes death, hatred, or rebellion

  • Feeling a strong pull toward evil, harm, or destruction

Satan glorifies death, but God gives life! Surround yourself with light, truth, and godly influences.

Addictions and Loss of Self-Control

Satan seeks to enslave people through addictions to substances, pornography, gambling, or destructive habits.

  • 1 Peter 5:8"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour."

  • Romans 6:16"Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey?"

Warning signs:

  • Addiction to drugs, alcohol, or pornography

  • Inability to stop sinful behaviors

  • Feelings of helplessness and bondage

Jesus came to set us free from sin (John 8:36)! Seek deliverance, godly support, and break free in Christ’s power.

Open Hostility Toward Jesus and the Gospel

Satan’s goal is to keep people away from Jesus and salvation.

  • 1 John 4:3"Every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist."

  • 2 Corinthians 11:14-15"Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness."

Warning signs:

  • Hatred toward God, Jesus, or Christians

  • Mocking the Bible, prayer, or church

  • Promoting false doctrines that twist God’s truth

If someone aggressively opposes the gospel, it may indicate spiritual warfare or deception at work.

Paranormal or Demonic Experiences

Satan sometimes reveals himself through strange or supernatural occurrences.

  • Luke 10:19"I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you."

Warning signs:

  • Seeing dark shadows or hearing eerie whispers

  • Objects moving by themselves or sudden unexplained disturbances

  • Sleep paralysis, nightmares, or demonic visions

If you experience this, rebuke the enemy in Jesus’ name and fill your home with prayer, worship, and Scripture.

How to Overcome Satanic Influence

If you or someone you know is dealing with satanic oppression, take these steps:

  1. Accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior (Romans 10:9-10)

  2. Repent from any sinful or occult involvement (1 John 1:9)

  3. Pray for deliverance and protection (Ephesians 6:10-18)

  4. Surround yourself with godly community and Scripture (Hebrews 10:25)

  5. Speak God’s promises over your life (James 4:7 – "Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.")

Final Encouragement: Christ Has Already Won the Victory!

Satan may try to deceive, oppress, and destroy, but he is already defeated through Jesus Christ. If you are struggling with spiritual attacks, know that God is with you, and through Him, you have authority over the enemy!

How to Protect Yourself from Satan and Demons

Satan and his demons seek to deceive, tempt, and destroy (John 10:10). However, as believers, we have authority over the enemy through Jesus Christ. The Bible provides clear instructions on how to guard yourself against demonic attacks and walk in spiritual victory.

Accept Jesus Christ as Your Lord and Savior

The first and most important step in spiritual protection is belonging to Jesus. Without Christ, a person is vulnerable to Satan’s influence.

  • Colossians 1:13"For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves."

  • Romans 10:9"If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."

If you haven't fully given your life to Christ, pray and surrender to Him. His blood covers and protects you from the enemy.

Put on the Full Armor of God

The armor of God is your spiritual defense against the attacks of Satan.

  • Ephesians 6:10-11"Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes."

The Full Armor of God (Ephesians 6:12-18):

🛡 Belt of Truth – Stand on God's truth, not Satan’s lies.
🛡 Breastplate of Righteousness – Live a righteous life through Christ.
🛡 Shoes of the Gospel of Peace – Walk in peace and spread God’s truth.
🛡 Shield of Faith – Trust in God to quench Satan’s fiery darts.
🛡 Helmet of Salvation – Guard your mind with the truth of your salvation.
🛡 Sword of the Spirit (God’s Word) – Use the Bible to fight Satan’s lies.
🛡 Prayer – Pray in the Spirit for strength and guidance.

Resist the Devil and He Will Flee

Satan only has power where we give him access. If we resist him, he must flee.

  • James 4:7"Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

  • 1 Peter 5:8-9"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith."

How to Resist the Devil:

Reject temptation – Don't entertain sinful thoughts or desires.
Command Satan to leave in Jesus' name"In the name of Jesus, I rebuke you, Satan!"
Stay spiritually strong – Don’t give Satan a foothold through sin, fear, or doubt.

Fill Your Mind and Heart with God’s Word

The Bible is your strongest weapon against Satan's lies. Jesus Himself used Scripture to defeat Satan when He was tempted (Matthew 4:1-11).

  • Psalm 119:11"I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You."

  • Hebrews 4:12"For the word of God is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword."

How to Use God’s Word for Protection:

📖 Read and memorize Scripture daily (especially promises of protection).
📖 Speak God’s Word out loud when you feel spiritual attack.
📖 Declare biblical truths over your life, home, and family.

Remove Any Demonic Influences from Your Life

Satan looks for open doors to gain access to your life. If you have anything that glorifies darkness, evil, or sin, get rid of it!

  • Deuteronomy 7:26"Do not bring a detestable thing into your house or you, like it, will be set apart for destruction. Regard it as vile and utterly detest it, for it is set apart for destruction."

Remove These from Your Life:

🚫 Occult objects – Tarot cards, Ouija boards, witchcraft books, demonic symbols.
🚫 Dark entertainment – Horror movies, music promoting violence or the occult.
🚫 Sinful habits – Pornography, drug use, sexual immorality, or anything that opens doors to Satan.

🔥 Break every connection to the enemy by renouncing these things in Jesus’ name and getting rid of them completely.

Pray for Protection and Covering

Daily prayer builds a spiritual shield around you and your loved ones.

  • 2 Thessalonians 3:3"But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one."

  • Psalm 91:9-11"If you say, ‘The Lord is my refuge,’ and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways."

Powerful Prayer for Protection:

"Lord Jesus, I come to You for protection. I put on the full armor of God. I rebuke every attack of the enemy against my life. Cover me with Your blood, and send Your angels to guard me. I belong to You, Lord, and no weapon formed against me shall prosper. In Jesus' name, Amen!"

Stay in Christian Fellowship (Don’t Isolate Yourself)

Satan often attacks when we are alone and vulnerable. Stay connected to other believers for encouragement and accountability.

  • Ecclesiastes 4:9-10"Two are better than one… If either of them falls down, one can help the other up."

  • Hebrews 10:25"Do not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another."

How to Stay Spiritually Connected:

🏡 Join a strong Bible-believing church
🙏 Be part of a prayer group or Bible study
🛡 Have godly friends to support you

Declare the Authority of Jesus Over Your Life

Jesus has already defeated Satan, and His authority protects you!

  • Luke 10:19"I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you."

  • Philippians 2:9-11"At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth."

Declare This Over Yourself Daily:

"I am a child of God. Satan has no power over me. I am covered by the blood of Jesus. I have authority over the enemy, and I stand in victory. In Jesus’ name, Amen!"

Encouragement: Walk in Victory!

You do not have to live in fear of Satan or demons. If you are in Christ, you are protected, covered, and victorious!

Belong to Jesus – He is your ultimate protector.
Use God’s Word – Fight lies with truth.
Pray daily – Keep your spiritual shield up.
Remove dark influences – Close every door to the enemy.
Stay in Christian fellowship – Don’t fight alone.

Stand against Satan

“As I rely on Christ’s life within me, I have His power to defeat any satanic attack or spiritual stronghold. I will be vigilant to reject any thought that would entice me to trust in anything apart from the truths of God.”

“One who is wise can go up against the city of the mighty and pull down the stronghold in which they trust.”  (Proverbs 21:22)

  • Satan is not omnipotent. (1 John 4:4)
  • Satan is not omnipresent. (Job 1:7)

Scriptures to Protect from Satan and Demons

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”  (1 Peter 5:8)

The Bible offers spiritual armor and promises for believers to stand firm against Satan and his forces. Through faith in Christ, the power of Scripture, and God's protection, Christians are equipped to resist temptation, spiritual attack, and the schemes of the enemy. Here are key scriptures that provide protection from Satan and demons:

Resist the Devil and He Will Flee

📖 James 4:7“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

🔹 Resisting Satan is a choice. Submitting to God and aligning with His will allows us to stand against the enemy. When we resist the devil, he has no power over us.

The Armor of God

📖 Ephesians 6:10-18“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.”

🔹 God equips believers with spiritual armor to resist Satan’s attacks. The belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit (the Word of God) protect us from the enemy.

Greater Is He Who Is in You

📖 1 John 4:4“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”

🔹 Jesus who dwells in us is greater than any demonic power or evil force in the world. Satan is already defeated through Christ’s death and resurrection.

Speak the Word of God Against the Enemy

📖 Matthew 4:10“Jesus said to him, ‘Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’”

🔹 Jesus used Scripture to resist the temptations of Satan during His time in the wilderness. The Word of God is a powerful weapon to rebuke Satan and demons.

Christ Has Authority Over Demons

📖 Luke 10:19“I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.”

🔹 Jesus has given believers authority over evil powers. We are empowered through Christ to overcome any attack of the enemy.

God Will Protect You

📖 Psalm 91:9-11“If you say, ‘The Lord is my refuge,’ and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.”

🔹 God promises protection and deliverance from harm. He sends angels to guard and protect those who trust in Him.

Stand Firm in Faith

📖 1 Peter 5:8-9“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.”

🔹 Stay alert and sober-minded, knowing that the devil is always seeking to attack, but stand firm in your faith and resist him.

We Are Delivered from the Power of Darkness

📖 Colossians 1:13“For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves.”

🔹 As believers, we have been delivered from the power of darkness and transferred into the Kingdom of God. Satan no longer has dominion over us.

Jesus Gives Us Victory Over the Enemy

📖 Romans 16:20“The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.”

🔹 The victory has already been won through Christ. Satan will be crushed, and we can live in victory through Jesus.

Believers have authority over Satan and demons through Jesus Christ. By putting on the armor of God, standing firm in faith, resisting the devil, and relying on God’s Word, we can effectively defend ourselves from spiritual attacks. Remember that God’s protection is always available, and greater is He who is in you than any demonic power in the world. Stay rooted in Christ, trust in His power, and use the Word of God to guard against the enemy’s schemes!

Key Passage to Read

1 John 3:7–10

Pray ...

“Lord Jesus,

Thank You for saving me and adopting me into Your family. I acknowledge that Your blood was the payment price that purchased the full forgiveness of my sins. My testimony is that I truly am a child of God. Right now, I take the authority that is mine in Christ and renounce any satanic, demonic power that was or is coming against me. When I sleep, I ask that the helmet of salvation protect my mind. May the breastplate of righteousness deflect any flaming arrows from the evil one. Put a hedge of protection around my mind and purify my dreams, and may God get the glory. In the powerful name of Jesus I pray. Amen.”
