Below is a list of common communicative words that are part of everyday conscious language and that create either negative or positive actions. Become familiar with both the negative and positive words and their effects.
Positive Word Choices
I am
I choose
I have
And
I enjoy
I give myself permission to
What I am learning is
I understand
I can
I will
I am able to
I empower
I clai
I accept
I know
My power
I am clear
Is
Are
I’ll give it my best shot
Negative Word Choices
I need
I can’t
I might
But
If
It’s hard
Try
Attempt
Kinda
Working on
I’ve got to
I should
I wish they would
I don’t know
I’m not good enough
I can’t afford
It’s a problem
I didn’t do it
It’s not my fault
That’s the way it’s always been done
That’s too complicated
I don’t have the resources available
That will never work
There’s not enough time
I think
I am stuck
Hopefully
Someday
Maybe
Not
When you notice yourself using words that carry negativity or reflect a lack of responsibility for your actions and choices, take immediate action to correct them. Say something like "cancel," "clear," "renew," or "I choose to speak life." Then, replace those words with a faith-filled and empowering declaration that aligns with God’s truth. This practice helps break free from self-sabotaging patterns and reinforces a mindset of victory and faith.
For example, instead of saying, “I am always struggling to make ends meet,” say, "Cancel that. The Lord is my provider, and I walk in His abundant blessings." This shift removes limitations and aligns your words with God’s promises rather than fear or doubt. As Proverbs 18:21 reminds us, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit."
We are often conditioned to use language that limits us, but Scripture calls us to renew our minds (Romans 12:2) and speak with wisdom and faith. When we intentionally choose words that reflect God’s truth, we begin to see transformation in our lives.
A spiritually strong person (a “Warrior” in the faith) understands the weight of their words. Before speaking, ask yourself: "Does this align with God’s Word? Am I speaking life, faith, and victory over my situation and others?" The power of your words is not just in their sound but in the spirit and intent behind them.
Harness the power of your words to glorify God. Many people unknowingly speak defeat over their lives, but as believers, we must be intentional. Choose words that declare God's goodness, His power, and His promises. When you align your words with faith, you invite the miraculous power of God into every area of your life.
"Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer." – Psalm 19:14
