Be Like My Grandpa
Show Others the Right Path
This week I have been reminded of so many beautiful memories of my grandpa as he went home to be with Jesus last Sunday.
I remember his “whisker rubs.” If you’ve never had one, you are missing out!
I remember having our family gather to enjoy our amazing Nebraska sweet corn and freeze enough for the next year,
I remember My grandpa making us homemade popcorn for our bedtime snack, along with salted apple slices,
PLUS, two of my most consistent memories of my grandpa are:
I remember before every single meal, he would pray the Lord’s prayer (in two long breaths!).
AND
I remember my grandpa and my grandma were ALWAYS in church, sitting in the same pew in the same seat every single Sunday.
I always knew exactly what would happen before every meal and where I would find my grandma and grandpa every Sunday morning.
He didn’t have to tell me to pray, be a part of our church, or be a Christian. Instead, he set an example.
He simply showed me.
Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it. Proverbs 22:6 NLT
My question is, how are you showing others your love for Jesus?
It isn’t about putting on a show or being religious or legalistic.
It’s about leading by example, guiding others through your behavior, not just your words.
Just like Grandpa.
And may our only motive be to inspire others to love Jesus.
