He Is Risen!
It's amazing that this weekend with literally millions and millions of other Jesus followers and hundreds of thousands of churches all over the globe, we gather together to celebrate the greatest event in the history of the world that three days after the death of Jesus, the stone was rolled away, the tomb was empty, Christ was not there, He has risen from the dead. Because of that, we gather together to celebrate the goodness of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
He is not here; for he has been raised, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples, ‘He has been raised from the dead, and indeed he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him.’ This is my message for you. – Matthew 28:6-7
God created human beings in His image (Genesis 1:27), but instead of submitting to the Creator in obedience, we sinned in rebellion (Is. 53:6; Genesis 3:1-7). We all fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23) and are as good as dead (Ephesians 2:1-3), powerless to redeem or save ourselves (Romans 8:3).
The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23), but "God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).
The Word became flesh and dwelt with us (Jn. 1:14). Jesus lived a sinless life (1 Jn. 3:5), in total obedience to God (Hebrews 4:15), becoming the perfect substitute for us. When Jesus died on the cross, so too did our sin, and by His wounds we are healed (1 Peter 2:24).
He lived the life we could never live and died the death we deserve so that we can have redemption and righteousness with God (2 Corinthians 5:21). On the third day He rose, and His resurrection means that death is forever swallowed up in victory! (1 Corinthians 15:55-57)
This gift of forgiveness, redemption, salvation, and restoration is for every one of us.
All we have to do to receive it is place our faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior (John 6:40; Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 10:9).
Jesus is now seated at the right hand of God, interceding for us (Romans 8:34), and He will return to the judge the world (Matthew 25:31-33), right all wrongs, and make all things new (Revelations 21:1-8). Hallelujah!
If you haven't placed your faith in Jesus Christ, don't live another minute without Him. Pray to Him; repent of your sin and confess your faith in Him. He will give you new life and new hope!
If you already confess Jesus as Lord and Savior, share the Good News with someone who needs it today.
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time." (1 Peter 1:3-5).
Jesus Christ is risen indeed!
They were saying, “The Lord has risen indeed, and he has appeared to Simon!” – Luke 24:34
