Life Leadership: Leading Yourself Well

As a woman of faith and a Life Leader, leading yourself well is the foundation of everything you do. It’s about walking in alignment with your values, being intentional in your choices, and setting an example for others to follow in your home, work, and community. Life Leadership isn’t just about managing others; it’s about first managing yourself in a way that reflects Christ’s character and draws others to Him.

Key Aspects of Leading Yourself Well as a Life Leader:

1. Rooted in Faith and Purpose
   - Strong Spiritual Foundation: A Life Leader’s first priority is her relationship with God. Through daily prayer, Scripture reading, and worship, she stays grounded in her identity in Christ. Her faith drives her actions, decisions, and interactions, providing clarity and peace in all situations.
   - Understanding Purpose: Knowing that you are created with a purpose is empowering. A Life Leader doesn’t just go through life aimlessly; she seeks to fulfill the call God has placed on her life. Whether in her home, workplace, or community, she understands her role and the impact she can have.

   Scripture:
   - Proverbs 31:25: "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come."
   - Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future."

2. Self-Discipline and Growth
   - Personal Responsibility: A Life Leader takes ownership of her actions and attitudes. She doesn’t blame others for her circumstances but chooses to learn and grow from them.
   - Continual Growth: She is committed to personal development, whether it’s through education, skills development, emotional intelligence, or spiritual maturity. Growth doesn’t stop at a certain age or stage in life—it’s a lifelong pursuit.

   Scripture:
   - Philippians 3:14: "I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."
   - Proverbs 1:5: "Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance."

3. Emotional and Mental Health
   - Emotional Intelligence: Leading yourself well means managing your emotions, cultivating resilience, and responding to challenges in a healthy way. A Life Leader is aware of her emotions and uses them to guide her actions, not control them.
   - Self-Care: Prioritizing mental, emotional, and physical well-being is essential for sustaining leadership. A Life Leader knows that she can’t pour into others if her own cup is empty.

   Scripture:
   - Psalm 23:2-3: "He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul."
   - Matthew 11:28-30: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

4. Integrity and Authenticity
   - Living with Integrity: A Life Leader strives to live in alignment with her values. Her actions match her words, and her decisions are made with honesty and honor. Integrity builds trust and credibility, both with God and others.
   - Authentic Living: She doesn’t hide behind facades or try to be someone she’s not. She embraces her unique gifts, strengths, and weaknesses, and lives authentically as the woman God has created her to be.

   Scripture:
   - Proverbs 4:25-27: "Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways."
   - 1 Samuel 16:7: "The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."

5. Servant Leadership
   - Leading by Serving: True leadership is about serving others. A Life Leader doesn’t seek recognition or position but humbly serves the needs of those around her. In doing so, she models the example of Jesus, who came to serve, not to be served.
   - Empowering Others: A Life Leader helps others find their own strength, encourages their growth, and creates opportunities for them to step into their own leadership potential.

   Scripture:
   - Mark 10:45: "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
   - Matthew 23:11: "The greatest among you will be your servant."

6. Accountability and Humility
   - Being Accountable: A Life Leader seeks accountability, whether it’s from a mentor, a trusted friend, or a faith community. She welcomes constructive feedback and correction, recognizing that personal growth requires openness to change.
   - Living with Humility: While confident in her identity in Christ, a Life Leader remains humble. She recognizes that all her talents and abilities are gifts from God and she seeks to honor Him in all that she does.

   Scripture:
   - Proverbs 27:17: "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another."
   - James 4:10: "Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up."
