My Conversation with God About Donuts
I just had one of the most insightful and meaningful conversations with God.
You guys, He is so practical. I can't even tell you. I was talking to Him about my binge on Krispy Kreme donuts last night. And He didn't condemn me. He actually told me why I did it. I had worked super hard the day before, didn't get sleep, and had an important meeting in the morning. I was utterly exhausted. He told me I needed a reward and release from the stress of that work. That good work. God work. And so...in a moment of needing rest & reward, I drove to get donuts. Four to be exact. I ate four donuts! Holy cow. And then I drove straight to church on a Tuesday night to go worship God in a sugar coma. Nicely done, Rach.
But it doesn't stop there. He told me that balance is the answer to binge (unless it's an addiction...then it's just plain off limits.) But for me, the issue wasn't one of addiction. So He said to plan for reward. It's ok to put sweet spots and things into my week. That doesn't mean I'm eating daily donuts. But He created sweet things for us to enjoy. So I plan to make a pit stop to Krispy Kreme for two donuts each week. Why not? It will be a planned, good, intentional sweetness and reward, instead of a binge.
Hmm. And then...He said, "Rachel you're sweeter than those Krispy Kreme donuts. You don't even realize it. When people experience your music, prayers, and heart...they taste the sweetness of My Holy Spirit in you. It's like God-candy. Only it's the kind of sweetness that is good for them: body, mind & spirit. You are a spiritual donut."
Who would of thought of all that? I mean, I'm confessing my complete lack of self-control to God, and He comes back with that…"You're a spiritual donut."
Wow. Just wow.
* Do you know how good God is?
* Do you know what kind of thoughts He has toward you and about you?
I'm not the only spiritual donut on the block. You too carry the sweetness of God in you.
I have to say, this conversation with God took me to a whole new level. Thanks Heavenly Papa! Here's to You! And thanks for thinking of donuts.
James 1:17 (NIV) says,
"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."
Joyfully,
