The Thorn Brings Jesus to Life in Movie Theaters March 6-7

How it started: a bunch of high schoolers being deeply touched by an “illustrated sermon” at
youth group more than two decades ago.

How it’s going: audiences in movie theaters all around the country will have the chance to
experience THE THORN on March 6 or 7. This is the filmed version of the live stage show that
has impacted more than 1 million people since its humble beginnings at a church in the late
1990s.

“We hear audiences say, ‘It’s spectacular!’ We see people leave with tears on their faces,
unable to speak,” says John Bolin, the co-creator of THE THORN and the producer of the new
movie version. “Filming the stage show was a lot harder and more complicated than we
thought it would be. But we’re really happy with the way things turned out.”

So, you may be asking yourself, what exactly is THE THORN? The best description might be:
cirque meets the passion of Jesus. THE THORN is an immersive stage show featuring
emotionally powerful music, drama, aerial acts, movement arts, modern dance, and big visual
effects.

The beautifully filmed version of the stage show has added element to bring you even closer to
this amazing story. While Bolin says, “It’s action-driven as opposed to dialog-driven,” he also
shares that the movie version is narrated by John the Beloved as he shares the story of his dear
friend Jesus with a young boy named Asher.

“It’s a crystal-clear presentation for the Gospel,” Bolin says. “The core message of THE THORN
is Jesus loves you, He knows you, He sees you, He paid the price for you, He loves you.”
If you’re looking for a unique and creative way to share the love of Jesus with those you love,
